Post Raw material
Hi This is Hakan from Turkey,

If I use corn (for silage )within cow manure and mixing percentege will be %50(or what is the optimum mixing rate).
1.I have to use water or not? If I have to how much water I add?
2.What is the biogas yield for this mix.?

Who can help me in order to this subject?

Thanks in advance.

Sir,

You must be new this technology of biogas,
cattle manure or dung of animal is preferred as feed stock, because its constituent is similiar, and the fermentation or the anaerobic digestion is smooth, when you try to use biomass, you will face problems, as biomass will float, it will create its own problem, an dthe digestion process will go acidic , and the gas production will fall, worst I fear sometime it may stop

If you want increase the gas production, please more oil cake, use a little in the start, gradually increase after a week, by this time the bacteria is used to it, and they will adopt them them selves,

the other methods, whole anaerobic digestion process is slightly different from our normal process where oxygen is been used, these bacteria needs some more micro nutients in very small doses for the proper function of their metabolism

I have been working with small size plug flow digester, being fed with biomass in their raw state, hardly any processing, about 30 kgs of fresh/green biomass or about six kgs of dry leaf litter produce about 2 m2 of biogas, it has functioning for the past three years

[quote="Guest"]hello,
I want to know more about the other raw materials which can be used along with cattle manure or dung of animals? and in what proportion it will be good results?
also let me know , if we use baggas (left out of sugercane after squeezing canes in sugar plants) how much biogas we can produce?

Any raw material can be used in biogas plant in any proportion. The bagasse from sugar cane can be used as well and depending on the sugar production technology and bagasse humiodity biogas yield can be different.

Dear Sir,
There is a byproduct from sugar factory called press cake or filter cake.
There is proven technology (though not popular and at some places have been discarded after installation) of using this press cake or filter cake and spray spent wash of etoh plant, after addition of spl starter to the filter cake. Spl tractors called aero -tiller is used to decompose both filter cake as well as the spent wash to produce bio-compost (no methae is trapped).
There are HALF HEARTED efforts to use anearobic digester for this press cake/ filter cake. Reportedly both dry and wet digestions have been made.

Any one , any where can give a bit more information on such anearobic digestion please!

Dear Mr. Maiti,

Spent wash and sugar production wastes can be effectively recycled by anaerobic technology. For that kind of substrate twostage anaerobic digestion system should be applied. This is definitely not dry fermentation which is mainly applied to food wastes.

For the moment being this is most efficient technology for conversion of such waste into bio fertilizer and energy.

Dear Sir,
Thanks for your comment; but what i was looking for, is info on established and working system (if any) where sugar factory waste ( i.e. press cake containing 75% moisture, 10-14% bagacillo particle, 10% organic matter, balance lime salt) is digested to produce bio-gas and compost material.
Kind regards,
S. Maiti.

Sugar factory waste is the feed stock that is used by many biogas plants in Europe for many years. Zorg is currently working on same projects in Ukraine and some other countries.

One thing should be mentioned. Bacteria does not make any difference between the feed stock kinds. If raw material contains protein, carbohydrates, fat, etc. This is food for bacteria. We just need to make favorable conditions for bacteria groth and metabolism.
